We're always looking to make Discord more helpful for all communities, whether your server is you and your closest friends or it’s home to the entire fandom of your favorite hobby. We also recognize that larger communities have a different set of needs than smaller ones.

With that in mind, we've been cooking up new tools and features to help moderators and members of large communities get the most out of Discord. Starting this week, you may see some of the bigger servers you’re in show off new features you haven’t seen before. 

These features are being introduced in closed experiments so we can ensure we’re learning how they benefit users directly from our communities. By testing directly with you, the community, we’ll be more confident that any feature making it through the experiment phase to full release is helpful to larger servers on Discord.

To give you an idea, here are just a few things we’re testing: 

• New tools and automation for moderators and admins to keep their communities safe.
• Easier ways for people to find and participate in conversations about the things that really interest them.
• The ability for members to get the skinny on what your community’s about without having to dig through dozens of channels.
  

Below is a sneak peek at one of the new features we’re experimenting with: a channel that acts as a home for more organized conversations within your community, kinda like a forum! 

Community is at the heart of what we do and we're excited to build upon our recent work like Stage Channels, and Scheduled Events which help communities plan and run all sorts of events both inside and outside of your server. We’ve also expanded the tools that moderators have at their disposal with our latest Timeout feature, and are continuing platform wide efforts to help reduce spam across all communities.

Our goal is to work closely with the people who make these servers great to really ensure that what we’re building solves their needs. We’re excited to continue improving together with the admins, moderators (let’s hear it for ’em!), and community members who make Discord a great place to find community and purpose. 

We can’t know for certain if something is beneficial to you unless we test it out in the “real” world and gain valuable feedback from the community, so we’re looking forward to hearing from our awesome testers and bringing useful new features to everyone soon.
