Patch 2.02 is a community-driven patch that was founded in 2007, when EA dropped official support for this beloved RTS game. It follows on from Patch 2.01, where the goal is to continuously improve the game through competitive balance, bug fixes, quality-of-life improvements, etc, all while maintaining the vanilla identity of the game. In a nutshell, the patch continues the work EA left off.
There is a healthy, bustling community of casual and competitive players who help shape the game, and therefore, patch updates are made regularly. We also post competitive game commentaries, host tournaments and other events, and share tips and ideas to help others improve.
