Developers of Discord, we have some exciting news to share with you today! The official Discord Developers server reached an incredible milestone of over 250,000 community members! 🎉

Have you ever wanted a place to collaborate on a project with other developers? Looking for a welcoming space where you can learn something new or share your development experiences? How awesome would it be to have a space to receive timely API or platform updates, and interact with Discord Staff?

Well, there’s no need to imagine a place like that — what if I told you that this place is REAL?! And it has over a quarter of a million developers waiting to say hi to you. Yes, you! Pretty cool, huh?

What is DDevs?

The Discord Developers server, lovingly referred to as “DDevs,” is the official home for developers on Discord! This community offers resources for building both on and off Discord, including peer support and Discord-led events.

As Discord’s Developer Community Manager, I get to spend most of my day hanging out with our awesome developer community and creating fun programming for the server. (Heh… “programming…” get it? 🙃) Last month, we hosted a Developer Spotlight Stage Event with Joyn, the team behind the recently-featured Tourney Bot. We all got a chance to learn more about their app and development process, plus learn best practices for developing on Discord.

Recently, our first-ever DDevs Buildathon wrapped up, which was a fun challenge for our developer community to build something great in less than a week. There were some really awesome builds, and you can see all of them by joining the DDevs server and taking a peek at the #buildathon-builds channel.

I also host a biweekly Code && Chat event during which Discord Staff hang out with community members while working on projects and listening to our Discord lofi mix. Other recurring DDevs events include Platform Updates Stage Events with our spectacular Developer Relations team, App Directory Peer Review sessions, Activities Tournaments, and plenty more!

When we started the Discord Developers server, we had no idea how quickly it would evolve into the flourishing community it is today. So… thank you. Thank you to all the Discord Staff who have built, supported, and engaged in the server. Thank you to the awesome DDevs moderation team which manages the day-to-day and keeps the server safe and inclusive for everyone.

Most importantly, thank you for being part of our thriving global Discord Developers community. We are so incredibly grateful to be part of it and we’re excited to see what the future holds for DDevs. Here’s to another 250k!
