Normally in these intros, we’d say things like “chess is loved by people of all ages” and so on, but you probably already know that by now. Your parents, guardians, grandparents, and even Mabel down the street might’ve said the same thing at some point.

During September, players of all skill levels will be able to challenge four Discord characters to a rousing round of chess. We’ve brought our smartest machines (and Wumpus) for you to challenge. The prize? The most coveted Discord reward you could imagine: some Nitro!!!!

At the start of the month, you can get some practice matches in with Nelly, Wumpus, and Clyde. Wumpus has recently taken an interest in chess, while Nelly and Clyde are a bit more advanced players since, you know… they’re robots.

And in the midsts of September, a new challenger will approach that you’ll have the chance to play against… someone who looks strikingly similar to Wumpus, except they’re really, really, really smart — a chess professor, if you will. 

The first time you beat or draw any of the Discord characters during September, you’ll receive a coveted prize: a one-month trial of Discord Nitro, usable for anyone who is not currently a Nitro member!
